“RRF has been a significant part of that change…”

“I would like to relay my thanks and appreciation for the support you have given my client who completed the 26 session anger management programme. I have maintained regular communication with Helen Oades regarding this person’s journey which has been very helpful and much appreciated.

He got off to a difficult start, attendance was sporadic and he was reluctant to accept responsibility for much of his behaviour. Covid-19 restrictions came and his attendance halted.

Private court proceedings allowed longer for him to complete the programme in view of the pandemic restrictions. When groups were re-started he began to attend and completed the programme. He engaged in a parenting assessment with social care. His progress is significant and as a result, I recommended to the court that he has unsupervised contact with his two children. ”

“It’s life changing stuff…”

“Thank you all very much for helping me with what I can only describe as the toughest time of my life. I’m not sure you realise just what the work you all do there means to myself and others. It’s life changing stuff and I’m certainly a better person for it. ”

“They speak plainly and without a hidden agenda…”

The Rosalie Ryrie Foundation took me completely by surprise. This group of people have positively effected and changed my life and how I move forward with it. Allow me to explain;

I attended my first session with feelings of fear, doubt, anxiety and a distinct lack of trust. At that point it had been two and a half years since my situation began. During this time I had been accused of a number of offences, meetings with police, family services, solicitors, barristers and all the while not able to see my daughter. During these meetings I was made to feel guilty and judged due to these allegations. I felt completely suppressed and just had to answer whatever my ex wife threw at me without ever being given the chance to speak openly or even present evidence on occasion. It almost felt scripted and that a determined path was to be followed regardless of anything I had to say. It was a case of jumping through the hoops whilst leaving my money at regular points in the process….thank you for your business Sir!

During the process it was suggested to me that I attend the Rosalie Ryrie Foundation and partake in a program there. During my first visit I was invited into an office where a member of staff took my details and asked me to tell her my story. This took me back initially I must admit but I continued to describe all that had happened over the last couple of years. The staff member listened intently and appeared to take a true interest in what I was saying. I was then invited to come back and sit in my first session. I sat and listened to the group discussion. I was surprised at how comfortable some of the group were. The staff have a no nonsense approach and explain information plainly and factually. The individuals in the group spoke openly about their experiences. I left my first session with a lot to think about. I continued to attend and over time I found myself comfortable and able to speak openly. It has surprised me just how many people are going through an almost identical situation as I am.

The staff at Rosalie Ryrie Foundation are fantastic in what they do. They speak plainly and without a hidden agenda. They are knowledgeable in this field of work and have given me lots of advice on how I move forward. They have a tool called ‘Charlie’ which works very well and allows people to see in a simple format what behaviours and how they affect people are. The staff here have their own experiences and stories to tell which makes them relatable to people in the group. This has been refreshing as a lot of the people and agencies I’ve been involved with before attending Rosalie Ryrie have only read about the experiences these people (including the staff) have lived. The staff at the foundation are very good in drawing out emotion and helping people to understand and how actions and consequences interact. They listen and do so with interest…..the power of this should not be underestimated.

During my time with the foundation I can honestly say I have changed as a person. I went in quite negatively, feeling like I had nobody to listen to me with regarding my situation. I feel more positive these days with the advice and guidance from the staff at the foundation. I feel calmer, more focused and more aware of how I conduct myself. I can say that Rosalie Ryrie have played a part in that.

“I would recommend it to everyone…”

Rosalie Ryrie works with groups on behavioural management.

Having attended the group sessions I would recommend it to everyone, the skills and awareness that Ann and the team bring to group members should be taught in every school in the country.

It’s interesting seeing attendees and where they are in their journey. It usually starts with their partner being the one at fault and not allowing them to see their children or abusing them in some way. After a few groups you can usually see the realisation, that they themselves have skills to learn, they then start to understand how they act and react to situations and triggers. The Rosalie Ryrie team listens and provides support and the necessary skills to help members work through the issues.

It is great to see members open up over time and see their heads lift after a session.

“I owe this confidence to the great team”

“You didn’t know what to expect when you join your first session. What you quickly learn is everyone starts out the same; defensive of your actions and naive to the impact of your experience and events that have led you to this point in your children.

Through coaching, openly discussing tough topics and sharing experiences the walls come down and self reflection comes in. Your learnings are not everything you first perceive them to be, and you become more self-aware. By applying, STOP, reflecting on ‘Charlie’, my children’s point of view and impact of consequences of my actions, it now allows me to make informed decisions and better choices.

I have also learnt to be assertive in the right way with my ex partner, which has helped me with money, conversations and who and when we have the children and pets.

Throughout the sessions you become more confident to talk and share your experiences and opportunities. Before this experience, I had never talked about how I felt, what had happened and now I have grown with self-confidence! I owe this confidence to the great team. Thank you.”
